Identity Thieves Busted in “Operation Bad Drive”

Police busted a theft ring that fenced more than $100,000 in merchandise purchased with credit cards stolen from country-club parking lots.

Criminal charges have been filed against five individuals as a result of an investigation dubbed “Operation Bad Drive.” A statewide grand jury recommended filing the charges against the five Philadelphia residents believed responsible for 40 or more thefts in southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.

“This was a very organized operation,” Attorney General Tom Corbett said. “These defendants knew that they had a small window of time to make high-end purchases before the stolen cards were cancelled. They capitalized on that and were able to make thousands of dollars worth of purchases for resale on the black market.”
