Captured Fugitive Suspected in ID Theft:

Authorities captured a fugitive yesterday in Las Vegas allegedly connected to an identity-theft ring that tried to drain more than $20 million from bank accounts across the nation, including thousands in New Jersey.

Shaun Rosiere, 39, of Evergreen, Colo., was arrested by investigators with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, according to the office of acting U.S. Attorney Ralph J. Marra. Rosiere had been on the run since Dec. 10, when six other suspects in the case were arrested in Florida, authorities said.

A federal grand jury in Trenton indicted nine members of the alleged ring in September, charging them with posing as telemarketers to prey on millions of bank accounts. Authorities estimate they successfully stole about $7 million, including hundreds of dollars from banks in Essex, Hunterdon and Atlantic counties.
